If you have never rowed we can teach you. The Club offers four weeks of free tuition at both sculling and/or rowing after which you decide if you wish to join the Club as a member. The minimum age limit is 12years old and there is a requirement of being able to swim 100yds in your training kit.

Juniors under the age of 18yrs are taught by an experienced coach and as your ability to move a boat develops so you will progress through the ranks to become a competitive sculler entering races in the first instance at local regattas in your age band. As your skill improves you will move up in the active junior squad to compete at National and International events. The Club has a strong history of producing International level Juniors and currently has youngsters who are National Champions in their age category.

Adults both male and female are taught to row rather than scull and are integrated into the various levels as to their individual development. The Club has competitive mens senior and veteran squads with novices at both levels. The ladies section has a competitive squad and a leisure/social sqaud both of which train on a regular basis.

Training gets progressively more intensive as you progress through the ranks, from one or two sessions a week to eight or nine for the top athletes. If you want to be the best you need to be prepared for a substantial time and effort commitment.

If you want to learn to cox we can teach you. In many ways a cox is like a jockey on a horse, you are carried along by the crew so small and light is a good attribute. Some of the coxes seats in the boats are quite small. The advantages of being a cox are that you don't have to do the training the rowers have to and you still get a "pot" as a member of the winning crew. Good coxes are a rare commodity so you will be very popular with the rowers and always in great demand.
